5 reason to stay here: 1/ If you like me had doubts about staying at the hostel or not because you are afraid of shared bathrooms and toilets - you should not. The cleanest place (not just for hostel level) I have ever stayed: the room, the lobby, the shared bathroom and showers. it sounds icky “shared” but in reality it’s a separate room where you can have you shower in peace and after go to a powder room with brand new dryers to sit and do everything you need. Toilets clean, quite secluded. Yep with Japanese toilets so your tushy is warm and clean. 2/ Coolest looking building The hostel consisted of 2 buildings one in front of another. The ultra modern lobby with coolest ambience to relax amid beautiful greenery. This building was concrete grey colored. The rooms were in the black colored building with automatic doors opening in front of you like you are entering Futurama. Also had coolest lobby with a great collection of design pieces and modern, steel equipped kitchen like out of magazines. 3/ Location, location, location Main tourist attraction were quite walkable with tons of bars, ramen spots, karaoke clubs and one of a kind clothing boutiques. 4/ Stuff was extremely helpful and accommodating. Kudos to the guys! 5/ Price. This one you can check for yourself. Yes, try to book ahead but if you book the last moment it still would be more affordable for price/quality/experience.

This was my fourth stay at Piece Hostel Sanjo, and it continues to exceed my expectations. The staff are consistently friendly, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable about Kyoto and its surroundings. The rooms are perfectly designed with comfort in mind. The beds are comfortable, there's ample space for luggage storage, and they even provide extra pillows if you want. The real highlight is the communal area, both lower ground and roof top terrace. It rivals any trendy restaurant or cafe, offering a very stylish, chilled space to relax. The fact that it's fully equipped with dishes, glasses, cutlery, tea/coffee/water, and even laundry facilities makes it incredibly convenient for longer-term stays. A nice treat - Piece Hostel has introduced various events events like live jazz music, fantastic if you want to relax without leaving the hostel. The location is unbeatable. Everything you need is right on your doorstep, and the subway station is just an 8-10 minute walk away, making it easy to explore. Comfortable and stylish, and the value fo rmoney is unbeatbale Piece Hostel Sanjo is an absolute must-stay.

This was a great spot in Kyoto, a fabulous location within a 10 minute walk of the local station and plenty of cafes, restaurants and cute boutique shops close by. The room was comfortable and clean though we didn’t spend much time in it as the communal space downstairs was excellent. The kitchen was well stocked and supplied coffee beans and grinders it was a great size so even if multiple people were using it you didn’t feel like you were getting in peoples way. I really enjoyed the dining space and it was a lovely place to get some work done, the Christmas tree was a really nice addition for the season! We didn’t end up joining any of the events except to pop into the jazz night one evening (which was lovely), but it’s a great addition to the hostel with some nice options of sushi making and zen workshops.

Piece Hostel Sanjo's lux decor and design make it feel more like a hotel than a hostel. We had a room for 4 with a private bathroom and it was larger than our room at another hotel in Kyoto--and Piece Hostel Sanjo cost less than the other hotel. We stayed in the annex building across the street. It felt very safe and secure due to their key card and door systems. The kitchen was large and easy to use. We really appreciated having a coffee station with multiple options for types of coffee. There are two convenience stores nearby, as well as a multi-level grocery store. The lounge and bar area in the main building were very comfortable, and the drinks were delicious.

Such a nice hostel for solo travelers. Everything is so clean and well organized. Complex is modern and located at the heart of the city. Through booking, they send messages for special events before your arrival so you can register. There was a Kyomai appreciation and a Zen Meditation event that I joined. Unforgettable experiences. All staff are very helpful and kind. I was mostly in contact with Oytun and Ken at the reception. They showed great hospitality, and friendliness. If I come back again one day, I will definitely stay at this place.
